What to Do... |
Morning |
Start your day by going to the Visitor Center, picking up maps and brochures and news of any special events for the day. Then visit the Carrie M McLain Memorial Museum. Exhibits include Native culture and gold rush history. |
Afternoon |
Shop on Front Street. Shopping in Nome is wonderful—especially if you are interested in Alaskan Native Art. Many local artists sell directly to the public, so the art is inexpensive as well. Then pan for gold—either on your own on the beach or as part of an organized tour. |
Evening |
Nome has public beaches with an abundance of driftwood—which many tourists (and locals) use to cook fish they caught on their own! Go to the river, catch some fish, and cook it on a bonfire on the beach for a Nome-style picnic! |
Late Night |
Relax in one of the local taverns such as Anchor’s Tavern, Bering Sea Saloon or Dexter Roadhouse. |
